Accessibility statement for FME – Feature Manipulation Engine

Â鶹ÖÐÎÄÓ³»´«Ã½ is committed to making its mobile applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to FME, a software platform designed for geospatial data integration, transformation, and automation. It is owned by Safe Software of British Columbia, Canada, and more information about FME is available on the .

Compliance status

Safe Software has provided the following accessibility statement:

This Accessibility Statement applies to:

  • Safe Software’s websites, including content published on , ²¹²Ô»å  domains (the “Websites”)
  • FME Form, FME Flow, and FME Flow Hosted (the “FME Software”)

Safe Software engages independent third-party accessibility experts to conduct periodic reviews of both the Websites and the FME Software, who conduct both automated and manual testing.

Websites

For our Websites, Safe Software aims to provide an accessible digital property that conforms to Section 508 Guidelines and the World Wide Web Consortium’s Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We maintain Software Accessibility Conformance Reports (also called VPATs) for the Websites. VPATs are available upon request by emailing accessibility@safe.com

Some existing content may not be in compliance, and some content may meet only the minimum required compliance standards. This will be resolved as we continue our efforts to monitor and maintain acceptable compliance levels.

We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards. Testing of our Websites is performed by third-party accessibility experts using automated testing, screen readers, a color contrast analyzer, keyboard-only navigation techniques, and a variety of bookmarklets.

The following recent changes have been made to increase the accessibility of our Websites:

  • Navigational aids are provided on all pages. Skip navigation links have been incorporated to facilitate keyboard navigation and to bypass groups of links on a page and jump directly to main content.
  • The title attribute has been used to make linked text more meaningful or to indicate if the link opens a new browser window.
  • Type ahead search results are announced automatically.
  • Radio buttons are grouped together.

Safe Software Inc. uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 as its guiding principle. As we develop new pages and functionality, the principles of accessible design and development are an integral part of conception and realization.

Software

For our FME software and related documentation, Safe Software has assessed our products against the , the , and the . We maintain Software Accessibility Conformance Reports (also called VPATs) for the FME Software, which are updated at each major release. VPATs are available upon request by emailing accessibility@safe.com

Some existing content may not be in compliance, and some content may meet only the minimum required compliance standards. This will be resolved as we continue our efforts to monitor and maintain acceptable compliance levels.

With respect to FME Form and FME Flow, large datasets and the tools used to manipulate and gain insights from them are inherently challenging to make accessible. It is for this reason that meaningful accessibility improvements for FME Form and FME Flow take more time to develop, test, and implement. Despite these challenges, we are currently working to enhance our products’ overall accessibility with each major release.

Accessibility statement for QuickScreen dyslexia test

Â鶹ÖÐÎÄÓ³»´«Ã½ is committed to making its mobile applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to . QuickScreen dyslexia test is owned, operated and provided by an external party, .

Compliance status

This product is not WCAG compliant however Pico Educational Systems Limited have made it as accessible as possible without compromising the functions of the test itself. Some of the features necessary for compliance - for instance that audio should be transcribed on screen – would not be feasible in relation to a memory test which forms part of the QuickScreen test. In addition there are also some functions necessary within the test and which are essential to the way the site works, including not allowing users to go back and re-do sections of the test – another feature required for compliance.

However during the design and development of the site they applied a lot of thought to making the system as accessible as possible – especially to users with visual/reading issues as clearly there will be a reasonable proportion of candidates with these difficulties.

Features implemented to this end include:

  • The ability to have all text read out to you at the click of a button
  • All instructions shown on screen in text, audio and video formats
  • Text size can be easily increased and decreased to get it to a comfortable size for the user
  • All text is black on a white background, ensuring the best contrast
  • Buttons are large and colourful, with text and icons indicating their purpose

The user can choose to do tests involving typing with a physical keyboard or via a mouse/touch with an on-screen keyboard.
