The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey was carried out over a week in September 2024 and this involved the support of 21 homeowners鈥痑nd property managers, 7 business and charity owners and local authority road network鈥痑nd parking teams. Incredible enthusiasm, interest and co-operation from the community with only one non-resident property owner withholding鈥痶heir permission to survey. 

The GPR survey covered a relatively small physical area of c.1,000 square meters but this was dispersed across a densely built-up urban area around 100m wide by 250m long meaning that in reality it consisted of a challenging patchwork of 27 individual survey areas varying in shape, size and ground surface - garden lawns paving and plant beds; driveways, car parks and hard standings; public roads and pavements. 

We invited local residents and long-term local stakeholders representatives for a site visit, including Culture Perth and Kinross, Alder Archaeology, Perth Society of Natural Sciences (history and archaeology division), Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, Perth Guildry, and Perth Glover’s Incorporation, and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland team kindly supported us with all the photo records of the day coming from their representative, Sally Pentecost.
